Compress an image to 100 KB
A phone photo weighs 3 or 4 MB. Here it goes under 100 KB, at the best quality that fits.
Automatic saves JPG (WebP stays WebP). EXIF data (GPS location, camera, date) is removed and the photo is saved upright.
Files never leave your device
How to do it
- Choose the photo (or several), or drag it into the box. The 100 KB limit is already selected.
- Press "Compress".
- Check the preview and download the photo: it is 100 KB or less.
Tips
- To reach 100 KB, a 12-megapixel photo usually ends up around 1200–1600 px wide: plenty to look good on a screen.
- If a face or some text looks blurry, crop the photo to what matters first: less background leaves more quality for the rest.
- If the site says "max 100 KB" and also asks for JPG, keep the format on Automatic or choose JPG.
Questions
Will the site really accept it?
The photo weighs at most 100,000 bytes, under 100 KB however the site counts (1000 or 1024 bytes per KB).
Why did the resolution go down?
A 12-megapixel photo does not fit in 100 KB at a decent quality. JPG quality goes down to a sensible minimum first and, if that is not enough, the pixel count goes down: the photo stays sharp instead of blocky.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.
What if I need 50 KB or 150 KB?
Pick "Other" and type the size you need.
